A little boy named Milo uses a magical star chart to guide him through his calm, cozy bedtime routine, finding comfort in each predictable step.

The sun was setting, painting the sky orange and pink. Milo looked at his special star chart, which glowed softly on his wall. 'First star,' he whispered. The star twinkled next to a picture of pajamas. 'Time for cozy clothes!' Milo felt a happy, familiar tingle. He opened his drawer and pulled out his favorite dinosaur pajamas. They were as soft as a cloud.

Milo slipped into his pajamas, giving the little stegosaurus on the front a pat. 'Ready for the next star!' he said. The second star on his chart shone brightly over a picture of a toothbrush. In the bathroom, Milo squeezed sparkly blue toothpaste onto his brush. He brushed every tooth, top and bottom, making silly faces in the mirror. His teeth felt clean and shiny, like little pearls.

The third star glowed with a picture of a book. Milo skipped to his bookshelf, which was packed with adventures. 'Hmm, which one tonight?' he wondered, feeling a spark of excitement. He saw his book about a friendly moon, his book about a train, and his book about a bear. Finally, he reached for the bear book. It was a perfect choice for a snuggly night.

Milo carried his book and Stuffy, his floppy bunny, to the big comfy chair. Just then, his mom peeked into the room. 'I see you found the book star!' she said with a smile. Milo nodded proudly. Mom sat down, and Milo climbed into her lap, holding Stuffy close. He felt warm, safe, and perfectly snug as she opened the book to the first page.

Mom read the story in her gentle, story-time voice. Milo followed along, pointing at the pictures of the bear fishing in a river and sharing honey with a bird. Stuffy listened too, with his button eyes looking at the pages. Milo felt his eyelids get a little heavy, the way they do when you're very cozy and content. The story was just the right length.

The story was finished. 'Time for the goodnight star,' Mom said softly. The fourth star on the chart twinkled over a picture of a waving hand. Milo gave Mom a big, squeezy hug. 'Goodnight, Mom. I love you to the moon and back,' he whispered. 'I love you to the stars and back,' she whispered, kissing his forehead. Her hug felt like a soft blanket.

Mom tucked the blankets around Milo and Stuffy. 'One more star to go,' she said. Milo looked at his chart. The fifth and biggest star shone over a picture of a night light. Mom walked to the door and clicked on the little galaxy night light. Instantly, soft, swirly blue and purple lights danced across the ceiling and walls, like a gentle, sleepy aurora.
