Liam loved going to the store with his grown-up. The aisles were like a colorful maze of wonders! He held their hand tightly, his eyes sparkling as they pushed the cart past towers of cereal boxes and bins of shiny fruit. 'What shall we see today?' his grown-up asked with a smile. Liam's heart did a happy little dance. Shopping was an adventure!

Then, they turned down the toy aisle. Liam's mouth fell open in a big 'O' of surprise. There was a shiny red race car that looked super fast! Next to it sat a fluffy blue dinosaur with a goofy grin. On the bottom shelf, he spotted a puzzle showing a giant rainbow. 'Wow!' he whispered, feeling a bubble of excitement pop in his chest. There were so many fun things to choose from!

Liam pointed right at the speedy red car. 'Can I have that one, please?' he asked, his voice full of hope. His grown-up looked at the car, then at Liam. They gave a gentle shake of their head. 'That's a fun car, but not today, Liam,' they said kindly. 'We're here for our family's groceries.' Liam's hopeful smile wobbled just a tiny bit.

Maybe the car wasn't the right choice. Liam's eyes landed on the cuddly blue dinosaur. It looked so soft! 'Okay, then can I have that dinosaur?' he asked, pointing again. His grown-up knelt down. 'I know you like him,' they said softly. 'But remember, not today.' Liam's shoulders sank. The dinosaur's silly grin didn't seem quite as funny now.

A confused, frustrated feeling started to grow in Liam's tummy. It felt tight and fizzy, like a soda bottle shaken up. He crossed his arms. 'I want a toy,' he said, his voice getting louder. 'I want one right NOW!' He looked at all the toys on the shelf. How could he pick just one? And how could he leave without any? It felt so unfair!

His grown-up had a thoughtful look. 'You know,' they said, their voice brightening, 'I have a great idea! What if we don't get a toy today, but we make a special list instead? A wish list!' Liam uncrossed his arms, curious. 'A list?' 'Yes!' said his grown-up. 'We can write down or just remember all the toys you love. We'll save the list for another day.'

Liam thought about the shiny red car. It *was* his favorite. A wish list sounded... important. 'Okay,' he said, a new, calmer feeling washing over him. 'I wish for the red car first.' His grown-up pretended to write on their hand with a finger. 'Excellent! The red race car is now number one on the official Liam Wish List!' Liam giggled. Making a list felt like a secret mission!
