In the forest lived a little hedgehog named Hedgie. His back was covered with sharp spines. Hedgie hung his head low, afraid to play with his friends. He was scared his spines might poke his good friends.
Little bunny Fluffy hopped along. "Hedgie, come play with us!" Hedgie shook his head and backed away. "No, no, my spines might prick you."
Little squirrel Cheeky swished his tail. "Hedgie, come have a picnic with us!" Hedgie really wanted to eat the sweet apples. But he still shook his head and hid away.
Hedgie walked all alone. Tears plopped down one by one. "Why am I different from everyone else?" he whispered softly to the little stream.
Suddenly, a strong wind began to blow! Whoosh—whoosh—! Fruits fell from the trees all over the ground. They rolled away, tumble-tumble.
Fluffy and Cheeky chased after the fruits. "Oh dear, we can't catch them!" Hedgie suddenly wanted to give it a try. He rolled and rolled right into the fruits.
Prickle-prickle, how amazing! Apples and pears stuck all over him. Hedgie turned into a fruit ball! Fluffy and Cheeky clapped their hands and laughed.
"Hedgie, you're so awesome!" "Thank you for helping with your spines!" Everyone had a picnic together. They shared the sweet, sweet fruits.
Hedgie was no longer shy. My spines are really useful! They can carry fruits and protect me. This is the special me!
Every little one is special. Just like Hedgie's shiny spines. Be the best you can be! Everyone is a little star.
