Ava held Mom's hand tightly outside the big school door. Her tummy felt wiggly. "New classroom," she whispered. Mom knelt down. "I know it feels big," she said softly. "But remember our plan? We have your picture schedule." She showed Ava the small chart with colorful pictures: a backpack, a wave, a book. "We'll do it together, one picture at a time." Ava looked at the pictures and took one slow, deep breath, just like they practiced.

Inside, the hallway buzzed with voices and footsteps. Ava squeezed her worry stone. Ms. Kim greeted them with a sunny smile. "Hello, Ava! I'm so glad you're here." She pointed to a row of cubbies. "Let's find your special spot." Ava's cubby had a dinosaur sticker, just like her backpack patch! Hanging up her bag felt like the first puzzle piece clicking into place. One picture on her schedule was done.

Next was 'Say Hello.' Ava felt shy. Ms. Kim didn't ask for words. Instead, she showed Ava a 'Hello' card with a waving hand. Ava gave a little wave to Ms. Kim. "Perfect!" said Ms. Kim. Mom gave Ava a big hug. "I will come back after snack and play," she promised. Ava watched Mom wave from the door. Her heart did a little jump, but she remembered her breath. In... and out.

The classroom was full of wonderful, noisy things! The lights hummed, and someone was laughing loudly. Ava's hands flew to her ears. Ms. Kim noticed. She pointed to the 'Quiet Activity' picture on Ava's schedule. "The reading corner is nice and soft," she whispered. Ava hurried to the corner with its squishy beanbag and basket of books. The sounds felt farther away here. She found a book about planets and started to feel calm.

A gentle chime rang. "Story time!" called Ms. Kim. All the children gathered on the rainbow rug. Ava sat next to a boy named Leo, who was building a tower. Ms. Kim held up a big book. As she read, her voice was like a smooth, rolling river. Ava listened to the story about a bear finding a honeycomb. She knew what was happening because it was right there on her schedule. Knowing what came next felt good.

After the story, the picture showed 'Play.' Leo showed Ava the block bin. "We can build a rocket!" he said. Ava liked how the blocks clicked together. She built a tall, straight tower. When another child bumped the table and her tower wobbled, Ava felt a flash of worry. She looked at Ms. Kim across the room. Could she ask for help? She walked over and pointed to her blocks. Ms. Kim understood immediately. "Let's move your rocket to a quieter spot," she said.
