In the Kingdom of Cheer, there lived a knight named Sir Stumblefoot. He wasn't like other knights. His armor clanked and clinked with every step, and he often tripped over his own two feet. But Sir Stumblefoot had the bravest heart in all the land. He dreamed of grand adventures and protecting the kingdom. One sunny morning, he decided it was time for his first real quest. "I shall find the fearsome dragon in the Whispering Woods!" he declared, puffing out his chest. He polished his wooden sword, straightened his wobbly helmet, and set off with a hopeful heart.

The Whispering Woods were full of tall, friendly trees and chattering squirrels. Sir Stumblefoot marched bravely, singing a little song to himself. "I am a knight, so brave and true, I'll find the dragon, just for you!" But as he sang, he wasn't watching where he was going. His big, clunky boot caught on a twisty tree root. "Whoa-oa-oa!" he cried. He stumbled forward, arms pinwheeling through the air. He rolled down a small, mossy hill, his armor making a terrific CLANG-BANG-CRASH! He tumbled right through a curtain of ivy and into the mouth of a dark cave.

Inside the cave, it was cozy and warm, not scary at all. Glowing crystals on the walls made soft, twinkly light. And there, in the middle of the cave, sat Fluffy the Dragon. She was not breathing fire or guarding treasure. She was knitting! A long, rainbow-colored scarf was growing in her claws. She was humming a happy tune and counting stitches under her breath. "Knit one, purl two, knit one, purl two..." She was so focused on her knitting that she didn't hear the knight tumbling toward her.

Sir Stumblefoot landed with a final, enormous CLANG! right in front of Fluffy. His helmet spun like a top before clattering to the floor. Fluffy was so surprised, she let out a tiny, high-pitched "Eep!" She jumped straight up into the air, dropping her knitting. Her spectacles flew off her snout. When she landed, she saw the shiny, noisy knight and her big golden eyes grew even bigger. "A knight!" she gasped. She remembered all the scary stories about knights fighting dragons. Thinking this was an attack, she did the only thing she could think of.

Fluffy quickly raised her two front claws high above her head in surrender. "I surrender! Please don't fight me!" she squeaked. "You can have all my yarn! And my favorite sparkly rock! Just please don't say 'en garde'!" Sir Stumblefoot blinked, pushing himself up onto his elbows. He was very confused. This dragon wasn't roaring or breathing fire. She was offering him yarn and a rock. He looked at her scared, gentle face and then down at his own wooden sword. He didn't feel very brave anymore. He felt... curious.
