Liam loved going to the store with his grown-up. The aisles were like a rainbow tunnel of colors and shapes! He held their hand tightly, his feet doing a little happy dance on the shiny floor. 'What will we see today?' he wondered, his eyes sparkling with excitement. Every trip was a brand new adventure waiting to happen.

Then, they turned down the toy aisle. Liam's mouth fell open in a happy 'O!' There was a shiny red race car that looked super fast. Next to it sat a fluffy blue dinosaur with a goofy grin. And on the bottom shelf was a big puzzle showing a jungle full of animals. 'Wow!' Liam whispered, his heart doing a happy flip.

Liam pointed right at the speedy red car. 'Can I have that car, please? It zooms!' he asked, his voice full of hope. His grown-up smiled gently and gave his hand a soft squeeze. 'That is a very cool car,' they said. 'But not today, Liam.' Liam's smile got a little smaller. He really wanted to zoom that car down the hallway at home.

His eyes drifted to the fluffy dinosaur. Maybe that was the perfect toy instead! 'Okay, then can I have that one?' Liam asked, pointing at the blue dino. 'He looks friendly. We could have tea parties!' His grown-up knelt down beside him. 'He does look friendly,' they agreed kindly. 'But not today.' Liam's shoulders slumped a tiny bit. Two perfect toys, and two 'not todays.'

A funny, fizzy feeling started in Liam's tummy. It felt tight and wiggly, like soda bubbles. He wanted a toy right now. His bottom lip wobbled, and he crossed his arms. 'But I want one,' he said, his voice sounding small and scratchy. It was so hard to see all the fun things and just walk away.

His grown-up had a thoughtful look. 'You know,' they said, 'when I see something I really like but can't get right now, I make a wish list!' Liam peeked up. 'A wish list?' 'Yes!' said his grown-up. 'We can use our super-strong memories, or I can write them down in my phone. It's like saving your favorite wishes in a treasure chest for later.'

Liam uncrossed his arms. A treasure chest for wishes? That sounded... interesting. He looked back at the red car. It was still the shiniest. 'Okay,' he said, a new idea blooming. 'I wish for the red car first.' His grown-up pretended to write on their hand with a finger. 'Excellent! The red zoom-car is now officially number one on the Liam Wish List!'
