Milo looked in the mirror and touched his fluffy hair. 'It's getting long,' said Sam, his grown-up. 'How about a haircut?' Milo's tummy did a little flip. He had never had a haircut before. He wondered about the big chair, the shiny scissors, and the loud buzzing sound. What if it tickled? What if he couldn't sit still? 'I feel a bit wobbly about it,' Milo whispered.

On the way to the salon, Sam held Milo's hand. 'Let's talk about what will happen,' Sam said kindly. 'First, a nice person will say hello. They might put a special cape around you to keep you cozy. The scissors go *snip-snip*, and the clippers go *buzzzz*. Your hair will fall softly, like feathers.' Milo listened, picturing each part. Knowing what might happen made the wobbly feeling a little smaller.

The salon smelled like flowers and had comfy chairs. A person with a big smile waved. 'Hello! I'm Jamie,' they said. Milo gave a small wave back. Jamie showed Milo the special chair. 'It goes up and down, just like a gentle elevator,' Jamie explained. Milo looked at the tools on the counter. The scissors were shiny, and the clippers were quiet for now. 'Ready for an adventure?' Jamie asked.

Jamie gently wrapped a soft, blue cape around Milo. It fastened with a velcro click. 'This is to catch all the little hairs,' Jamie said. Milo wiggled his shoulders. The cape felt light, not tight. 'Remember our breathing?' Sam whispered. Milo nodded. He took a slow breath in through his nose, like smelling a flower, and blew it out through his mouth, like blowing a dandelion. His shoulders relaxed just a tiny bit.

Jamie picked up the scissors. 'May I show you?' they asked. Milo watched closely. Jamie carefully snipped a tiny bit of their own hair. 'See? Just a quiet *snip*.' Then Jamie held up the clippers. 'This makes a buzzing sound, like a friendly bee. It feels like a little tickle.' Milo's eyes were wide. 'Can we try just one snip first?' he asked softly. 'Of course!' said Jamie. 'You tell me when.'

Milo looked in the big mirror. Jamie stood behind him, holding up a small section of Milo's hair. 'Ready for the first snip?' Milo took another flower breath. 'Okay,' he whispered. *Snip*. A little lock of light brown hair floated down onto the blue cape. Milo watched it in the mirror. It didn't hurt at all! It just felt... different. 'You did it!' Sam cheered from nearby. Milo felt a spark of bravery.
